Complete Dental Implant Procedures in Just One Location

If you’ve explored our service page already, or have taken a look at our blog, you probably know a little something about dental implants already. You might know, for instance, that they mimic a tooth’s natural structure. You might also know that they’re the only restorative dentistry option that will help you prevent you from losing bone mass.

What you may not know, however, is that not every dentist that restores dental implants can place them.

What’s the difference?

To say that a dentist restores dental implants is to say that they can attach a crown, bridge, or denture to implants that have already been placed in your jaw. A dentist who places dental implants, on the other hand, also knows how to surgically place your implant posts in your jaw.

It’s an important distinction to know about if you’re considering dental implants. It’s also important to know that Dr. Incampo is a prosthodontist, which enables him to do both.

If you live near either Wakefield or North Andover and have been considering dental implants, our team can help. Dr. Incampo’s artistic vision and attention to detail have earned him the esteem of patients and colleagues alike. In fact, many local dentists and specialists even trust Dr. Incampo with their own dental needs.

A dental emergency like a cracked tooth or a broken crown never happen when it’s convenient. If anything, they always seem to happen when it’s least convenient—while you’re rushing through breakfast, or the day before an important event.

That’s why Dr. Incampo’s Wakefield and North Andover dental offices use CEREC technology. With CEREC, we can create custom-milled crowns in just a single appointment.

Once it’s done, Dr. Incampo will put it in place and you’ll be on your way with your restored smile in place. And because CEREC crowns are made from high-quality dental porcelain, you restoration will look and feel natural. No one but you and Dr. Incampo will ever have to know you’ve had a crown put on.

Do you need to restore a broken tooth or crown? We have two locations and flexible appointment times to meet your needs. Call us today to schedule your appointment.

The Connection between Your Heart and Your Smile

When you think of February, you think of Valentine’s Day and decorative hearts. But when you think about hearts specifically, you probably don’t think about your smile. And yet, the truth is, there’s a very real connection between your smile and your heart. That’s why making your oral health a priority is so important.

How Can Gum Disease Affect Your Heart?

Gum disease is caused by bacteria and plaque. When it’s not treated, it can lead to the formation of pockets between the teeth and gums. These pockets then become like doorways for the same bacteria and plaque to reach other parts of the body via the bloodstream.

One of their stops along the way is the heart.

How exactly these bacteria contribute to heart disease is still a bit of a mystery, but the evidence is clear. According to the American Academy of Periodontology, patients with gum disease have an increased risk of developing heart disease.

How Can You Support Your Heart and Your Overall Health?

The answer is simple: with regular cleanings and oral exams. We recommend visiting Dr. Incampo’s Wakefield or North Andover office twice a year to ensure that your health is well guarded. Call us today if you’re ready to schedule your next appointment with Dr. Incampo.

Relief from Dental Anxiety with Oral Conscious Sedation from Dr. Incampo

It’s not uncommon for patients to put off dental visits because of anxiety. In fact, it’s estimated that millions do it every year. But putting off important dental visits can have serious consequences for your smile.

Thankfully, if you have trouble with dental anxiety, Dr. Incampo has a solution that can help you get the care you need to achieve optimal oral health and prevent trouble like gum disease and tooth decay. It’s called sedation dentistry.

Sedation dentistry comes in different forms. Dr. Incampo’s Wakefield and North Andover offices utilize a form known as oral conscious sedation.

Oral conscious sedation typically involves the use of a prescribed sedative that patients take prior to their appointment. This sedative often isn’t enough to put patients into a deep sleep, but it does promote a state of deep relaxation. Instead of feeling anxious or afraid, patients feel comfortable and at ease, drowsy but still awake enough to answer questions and respond to directions. And the best part is, when the appointment is over, patients have little to no memory of your appointment. It will feel like nothing more than a dream.

Want to find out more about sedation dentistry? Call our Wakefield or North Andover office today schedule an appointment with Dr. Incampo.

How Do Partial Dentures from Differ from Full Dentures?

If you need to restore multiple teeth from either the upper or lower row of your smile, what you need is a partial denture instead of a full denture. But if you’ve never heard of a partial denture (which is also just called a partial), you may not know what differences are.

First, partials feature multiple teeth attached to a gum colored base. But because these teeth are typically spread out instead of in a row, it can be helpful to think of a partial as a puzzle piece.

What’s more, while a full denture is typically secured by adhesive creams or suction, traditional partials are typically held in place by clips or brackets. As with full dentures, though, patients who are candidates for dental implants can choose to go with an implant-supported partial. An implant-supported partial from Dr. Incampo can restore functionality to a patient’s smile in a way that other traditional options can’t.

Call our North Andover or Wakefield dental office if you’d like to schedule a consultation visit with Dr. Incampo. By meeting with you, Dr. Incampo can address any questions or concerns you might have about your smile or your treatment options.

We can help you make your smile whole again.

Understand Your Oral Health in a Whole New Way with Our Intraoral Camera

Do you ever leave your regular exams wishing you had a better understanding of how your smile was doing? X-rays can reveal important details about your oral health, but they often can’t provide the kind of picture you might like to see.

Dr. Incampo’s North Andover and Wakefield dental offices use intraoral cameras precisely because we want all our patients to have a firm understanding of their own oral health.

Here’s how an oral exam with an intraoral camera works:

During your appointment, while you’re resting comfortable in our dental chair, Dr. Incampo will use a pen-sized wand to complete your exam. This wand, which has a camera on the end of it, will transmit video images to our computer, which will then put them on a TV screen, showing you exactly what we’re seeing.

Seeing your smile up close like this can be disarming, but the benefit is that you’ll be able to notice details that might have been impossible to see otherwise. By coming face-to-face with potential problems that you may not even have realized were there, you can begin making changes to your daily oral care routine that will help you improve your smile and your overall health.

To schedule your next appointment with Dr. Incampo, call our North Andover or Wakefield dental office today.

Don’t Forget About Your Smile As You Enjoy This Holiday Season

Thanksgiving is behind us, and from everyone at Dr. Incampo’s Wakefield and North Andover offices, we hope you and your family had a wonderful day of food and fun.

But the holidays aren’t over, as you’re well aware.

With Christmas just around the corner, we’re entering a time filled with almost nonstop holiday treats and parties. And while we don’t want to discourage anyone from enjoying all that the season has to offer, we don’t want you to forget about your smile either. Holiday treats are filled with sugar, and sugar is what gives bacteria the energy it needs to multiply and transform into plaque. So, try keeping these two suggestions in mind.

First, maintain a regular brushing and flossing routine. By brushing twice a day, flossing at least once, and gargling with a quality mouthwash, you’re doing your part to protect your smile from tooth decay and gum disease.

Second, try chewing xylitol gum or mints throughout the day, especially after meals. Xyitol is a natural sugar that actually fights cavities by promoting a healthy pH level in the mouth, making it more difficult for bacteria to cling to teeth.

Click here to learn more about xylitol.

And if you’d like to hear any more suggestions about how you can care for your smile this holiday season, get in touch with either our Wakefield or North Andover office. Dr. Incampo would be happy to answer any questions you might have, in addition to taking a thorough look at your smile to see how it’s doing.

How CEREC Is Helping Dr. Incampo Restore Smiles in Wakefield and North Andover, Part Two

In our post from October 26, we talked about how Dr. Incampo’s Wakefield and North Andover offices are helping patients restore weakened teeth with same-day crowns from CEREC.

But CEREC isn’t just helping us produce quality porcelain crowns in about an hour—they’re also helping us produce inlays and onlays so we can help patients who need something other than a crown.

What Are Inlays and Onlays?

Inlays and onlays are used in cases where patients don’t have enough decay to warrant a crown but need more than a filling.  More specifically, an inlay is used to restore the space between the cusps of your teeth, which are the bumps on top of a tooth, while onlays are designed to fit over one or more cusps.

Regardless of which you may need, though inlays and onlays are a conservative solution. In other words, they allow patients to keep more of their natural tooth structure, which in turn lengthens the natural lifespan of the tooth that’s being restored.  And like our same-day crowns, they can milled and placed during a single visit with Dr. Incampo.

Want To Find Out More?

Call either our North Andover or Wakefield office to find out more or to schedule a visit with Dr. Incampo. Our offices serve patients from throughout the North Shore area.
